Subject: Jeff Foxworthy on Wyoming. ( and my comments)

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not necessarily bashing the state I grew up in. After receiving this via email, I thought I would pass it on to people who might find some humor or enlightenment. Wyoming has the least amount of people per capita (except Alaska?). There are about 3 people per square mile, the whole state is less than 500.000 people. You can drive for 100 miles in some places and not pass a single house or see another human. It has mighty Rocky Mountains, Red Dessert, some very barren land and.......a certain mentality.
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 18 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by,
you might live in Wyo. (been there, done that)
If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights
each year because Big Piney is the coldest spot in the nation,
you might live in Wyo. (i grew up 30 miles from there)
If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March, you might live in Wyo.
(most communities are too small to have a Dairy Queen. We have one, where I am currently living, and it is closed during that time)
If you instinctively walk like a penguin for five months out of the year, you might live in South Wyo.
(is that true, meanie?)
If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his
forehead, you might live in Wyo. (it did, dang cowboy hats!)
If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you might live
in Wyo. (perfect camping attire)
If your town has an equal number of bars and churches, you might live
in Wyo. (exactly!)
If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who
dialed a wrong number, you might live in Wyo. (I thought i was the only one that did that!)

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE WYOMINGITE WHEN:
1. "Vacation" means going east or west on I-80 for the weekend. (not a scenic one by all means)
2. You measure distance in hours. (isn't this the case everywhere?)
3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once. (My car shows that)
4. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again.
5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging
blizzard, without flinching.
6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including
weddings).
7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave
both unlocked.
8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend knows how
to use them.
9. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
11. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction.

12. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce. (you have no idea how common this tacky idea is!)
13. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age.
14. Down South to you means Utah or Colo.
15. A brat is something you eat.
16. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new pole shed.
17. You go out to a tail gate party every Friday.
18. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost. (or snow)
19. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.
20. You find 0 degrees "a little chilly."
21. You actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all
your Wyo. friends. Sad....but true!!! (well, blogged them)
Scary, folks, but you know you're in redneck country when you read these and say, "Yeah, so?"

Spring time in the Rockies...

Here is what it looked like on the way home yesterday.....7 hours of driving through this. We also saw 3 herd of elk, bald eagles, sand hill cranes, blue herons, moose, antelope, deer...(home home on the range?) Yes, that is a skiier hitch hiking back to his car (it's just around the bend). I suppose you all have flowers and green grass!

Packing

to head south, about 500 miles, 3 mountain passes, a few canyons, 8 hours of driving....but worth it to see my ditty (sissy-meanie's maw maw)! We will be back on Monday evening. I'm sure I'll still have computer access, i'm too much of an addict to be without for that long!
i'm reallly excited about the big band gig we are putting together--calling Black Tie Affair. More on that later....
Happy Easter, all!
