We had a great weekend...

We camped in Yellowstone Park (specifically, the Lamar Valley) where it is:
Here's a bear paw mark, probably digging for grubs in the mud. (One of these days I'll get a real bear pic for ya!)
And we saw...
Antelope: The fastest running mammals on the North American continent...

The Great Buffalo: Once life support for the Native Americans, now endangered and protected.

And many fat little ground squirrel butts running away from us!

Several elk...

The country was gorgeous...getting green and still snow in the high country...however, the white part...mid-center to the left...is Mammoth Hot Springs, you can see the steam rising up!
We decided to hike down to the swinging bridge that crosses Yellowstone River. It's a mile straight down!


It's called "Swinging Bridge" and does have some sway to it, but worth it when you get to view the river...

We also saw Mother Nature's colorful carpet of shooting stars and mountain tulips...
I love the buttercups!

We drove through a town (abandoned) name "Miner". This is one of the two houses. I'd love to live here!


And the best for last...(bbbbbdbdbdbdbdbdbdbdbdbd) yes, that is a drum roll! Anyway, I've never seen a newborn baby antelope before...he could hardly walk...so darling!

Last weekend

we camped in much of the same area as we have for the past 2 weeks. The only difference was...the mountain crocuses are blooming...

and so happy!

These beautiful little flowers are all over the rock areas...I don't know what they are called but sure color the ground!
Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to drive over Beartooth Pass and camp in Yellowstone! (If the snow plows got through all the 20ft drifts!) Here is what it looked like a month ago...

Appreciating the Simplicities of Life-

love my sisters. You may notice us referring to each other as "ditties" which is our word for
sisters. I'm so grateful that we have each other.

Our final concert

was last night and it went over well! Pops concerts usually do...how could you not when the audience practically sang with ever song...Drift Away, Jeremiah was a Bullfrog, Imagine, Can't Help Falling in Love...My 8th graders gave me a giant homemade poster and a bouquet of flowers! All 160 kids feel good about their performance (which is what really matter), I feel good about it but this dang adrenalin...it's 4:44 and I've been awake since 3:15.

I'm sipping my yummy favorite tea...Bengal Spice. It has the natural sweetness from cloves and cinnamon. If you ever have a sore throat, this is a sure way to sooth it!

So, today in class, we will watch and evaluate the concert. My darling, Miss Megs, video taped it for us, then stayed the night. We relaxed and enjoyed each other. I'm so glad she is here!

Here is a cute picture of my kids when they were little. It's Ed's 4th birthday, Megs is contemplating the cake, I'm not sure what Michelle is doing!
Well, it's 5:00AM and the birdies are chirping. I guess I'll make some toast and start my day. Happy Tuesday, everyone! Don't forget to go to Chewy's blog to read her awesome Haiku (each and every Tuesday!)

Mothers Day

We picked up Megs and headed to Buffalo. I'm so glad she was with us! She is such a great support.
Here is mom's headstone. The pink heart on the right is from her grandkids, the "mom" is from Jo Jo, Vel and I with an extra bouquet of pink on the right side. The dark pink and red bouquets were already there and I was pleased to find out they were put there by Ed and Cathy before her headstone was placed.

If you look close, Megs bought a heart-shaped locket and hung it in the middle of the heart. When you open it, she wrote "We Luv You!" so sweet. A very beautiful heart because she had a special place in her heart for each grandchild.
And then we saw a dang turkey strutting for a hen that could have cared less! I had to laugh and remember watching this time and time again out of our home growing up. Both our parents are gone, yet live on in our memories by so many connections!

Then we met up with Ed at the Holiday Inn for Mothers Day Brunch, it was yum yum!
Our little Cathy was our waitress, so good to see my kids for Mothers Day!
It was hard but a good day for all of us.
