TACO TUESDAY!

What's everyone doing? Busy in their own lives?

Yeah, I know, me too...

It is supposed to be nice this weekend so we're probably going camping! Wahoo! If we can find enough snow, we can snow shoe, but I think we plan on heading over close to where we used to live to soak in the natural hot springs then see my dear friend, Ellen! She doesn't know yet! lol

Have a good Tuesday!

Happy 26th Birthday, Ed!

Take a walk down memory lane and enjoy pics of my son, Edward Eugene. I love him so much...so grateful to have him, he brings me as many tears of laughter as he does joy!

Wow, the above picture makes me want to cry. I was barely 19, he was just a few days old.

Then there's always ones that make me want to laugh...we gave him this bag for Christmas a few years ago. He was so excited, he hopped around the house in it, lol.
Love you, Ed! Happy Birthday in Bali! Can't wait for you to get home so I can hear all about your trip, give you a birthday hug and play some NES!

Saturday!

What a nice day to sleep in...since it's only 7 degrees out! Brrr! We had 60s last week (very unseasonably warm) and near zero this week...Gotta love the weather! lol

How are the resolutions going??? If anyone recalls...mine is to eat more fruits and vegetables. This morning, I made an (2 egg) omelet with cut up spinach, red pepper and onions in it, grapes on the side and oj. TASTY!

I didn't want to say I was going on a DIET. Every time I do, it backfires and it never works. However, my friend at work told me about one she's been on for 3 weeks and it's working quite well for her. I decided that I am officially going on this diet. Guess what it is called?

NO CRAP FOOD diet! Pretty easy to follow. More fruits and vegetables and no crap food. Hmmm.

IN THIS slow-burn drama from 78-year-old director-star Clint Eastwood, the Man with No Name has dwindled into a lonely bigot who spends his days on his front porch, glowering at the immigrants who supposedly threaten his patch of suburban Detroit. Surly Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski is initially furious when he catches a Hmong teenager from next door trying to steal his cherished 1972 Ford Gran Torino. But young Thao (Bee Vang) proves to be a victim in his own right, and soon Walt finds himself cast in the unlikely role of mentor.

I LOVED this movie! It grips my heart in many ways, especially the ending...couldn't have been any better! Clint is getting up there in years! There are many unknown young actors (for the first time!), and good ol' Clint. You will shed tears of laughter and sadness, but it's the best movie I've seen in a LONG time!

Our last visit for a while...

Steve and Laura and Theo are moving to Seattle. They came up to visit and have dinner tonight, and we had a great time! And of course at this age...good pictures are virtually impossible to get!
Here are our goodbyes...few tears here and there!

Theo is starting to get tired, but we never get tired of him! I love this pic of Megs holding him!

And he LOVED Gus!

And Gus loved him!

I just love this family...our extended family...so precious...Good luck in Seattle, Steve and Laura and little THEO! I'll come see you when I can! You'll always be in our hearts and minds!

BIRTHDAY - CHRISTMAS - NEW YEARS -

Every now and then, Scott and I decide not to give birthday/Christmas presents to each other and go camping in Yellowstone, instead.
So on New Years Day, a bleak, blustery day, we headed into Yellowstone National Park (our nations 1st national park...3500 square miles of pristine land).
We found a quaint little corner at Mammoth Camp Ground!

...with all the necessities...(I don't think I'll bathe here, today)

Gus found all the comforts of home!

We listened to the wind HOWL all dang night! The next morning, we headed up to Lamar Valley, where all the wildlife generally hang out. I called the day BLEAK, Scott called it BLUSTERY, whatever it was...here's what it looked like!

Usually, we see hundreds of bison and elk...here's all we saw...a few buffalo and if you look real close you can see two coyotes.

Here's where we USUALLY see wildlife, lol.

So....we headed back to Mammoth Hot Springs and took some pics. For shots taken by Scott's camera, go HERE.
Here are some of my shots...

The hot water rises from the geothermal activity beneath the earth's crust. Basically, it's one GIANT volcano, ready to erupt again...anytime!
I love how the snow lies next to the hot mineral water. It was about 8 degrees out...
Gus isn't allowed to walk on any of the trails...he was a little bored.

Last night, we were told that the ridge just on the other side of the canyon where we camped lived the CANYON pack of wolves...somewhere out there....

Scott woke me up at 2AM and said, "SHH...Listen..." and we heard the wolves howling! There were 3 distinct sounds...a high pitch, a medium pitch then a LONGGGG drone....lower howl that echoed through the canyon like nothing I've ever heard before...we listened for a while. I finally fell asleep and was awakened again by it. Music to our ears!

This morning, the bleakness finally left and the sun came out. The temp rose to a balmy 11 degrees when we finally finished breakfast and headed out the camper door.

We decided to go for a nice little hike up to Wraith falls. Here's a 6-point elk that was about 30 yards from the trail!

We hiked 1/2 mile and found this cute little water fall.

Here's the sight, looking the opposite direction; what a difference blue sky makes!

And so with that, here's to wishing you a Happy Birthday husband, Merry Christmas to me and Happy New Years to all my fine Blogger buddies!

May you always have (a) WILDLIFE in your life,
and may the sun shine through your most blustery and bleakest days!
