Who are the dang purple people, anyway?

You Are a Yellow Crayon

Your world is colored with happy, warm, fun colors.
You have a thoughtful and wise way about you. Some people might even consider you a genius.
Charming and eloquent, you are able to get people to do things your way.
While you seem spontaneous and free wheeling, you are calculating to the extreme.

Your color wheel opposite is purple. You both are charismatic leaders, but purple people act like you have no depth.
What Color Crayon Are You?

I got this from A. Bananna...We are the same colors, ffs! lol I do have a special place in my heart for yellow!

Have a few extra bucks?

Many gifts and food baskets were given to us around Christmas time when my kids were little and we lived in South Dakota. So, I can only give back...we're having a Toys for Tots drive and donation at my concert. It is a wonderful foundation that Marine Corp hosts...Dr. Phil is a fan of it too! Megs and I went shopping tonight...it was fun!

Some days,

it feels like I'm dragging (whining elephants) through wet cement.

We will always keep their beautiful memories alive in our hearts.

Our beloved sister Beckie...

Her stepson, Jesse...

Her first born son, Willy...

and little Tyrone...

Lives cut short...
at the hands of a 15 year old. May they rest in peace...and our hearts heal...

We Feasted!

Table setting for 11.
Homemade centerpiece. Mom's candle is in the middle.

Turkey (Ed carved!), pitcher of gravy, Michelle's sweet potato casserole, mom's corn casserole, frog-eye salad, Kim's orange jello salad, green bean casserole, dressing...the pic fails to show the tub of massed potatoes to on the right..or the cart of olives, okra, pickles, HOT n spicey pickled veggies, veggie tray, shrimp and crackers and dinner rolls with homemade jelly. Chocolate cheesecake, plain cheese cake with chocolate syrup or blueberry topping, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and LOTS of whip cream for all!

Us 'ns.

After the clean-up..

We sat for a little while...
and here is THE miracle of the day. TT jumped up and sat by Gus and Gus growled at her (instead of vice versa!) They actually sat together for a little bit!

Cutest pic for last...I layed this basket on the chair and George Dog found it...has been sleeping in it ever since!

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm going shopping!

Funny how,

as a young girl, the snow outside would lure me to go make a snowman or snow angel...

and today I just want to sit inside with my cats. Maybe if Glenna or Sheeba were out there, I would!

Weekend Journeys

Friday night, after fixing a flat tire, packing and going to the doctor, we loaded up the CR-V and headed to Missoula to go see our long lost friends...Bob (AKA Dote Dee) and The Lovely Sandra (AKA TLS). We had a great time and found some other unexpected sites, as well!

Here is their new beautiful house!

Dote Dee pretended to be grouchy...

...but nothing a little unt couldn't fix!

Little Matthew (prefers to be called "Handsome Man") was Spiderman, a Pumpkin, Batman and Buzz Lightyear before 10AM that morning! Here's what happens when you push the button on his suit!

Unfortunately, Katherine didn't want her pic taken...

So anyway, we decided to take a hike up Rattlesnake Trail.

There were red bushes with the coolest white berries on them, I think they are called "snow berries". Scott thought they were pretty cool, too.

Here's the cute little family, hiking up the trail. It was a bit wet and chilly, but nice hike. Lots of cloud cover and humidity in this area...Scott calls it "the east point of the west coast".

Here's The Lovely taking a little break with Handsome man. Aren't they dang cute?

Back at the house, we enjoyed chips and drinks before our BBQ. Bob enjoyed his beer, Scott liked the beef stick.
And I enjoyed being with my dear friend. Can't wait to see them again!
We had to take advantage of the area, and check out Clark Fork River to see if there are any interesting spots to float next summer...and there is! The water is obviously low (look where the water line is on the pillars of the bridge) but there are still some interesting rapids.
This particular area is called "Alberton Gulch". We dropped a rock from the bridge counting slowly...one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three, one thousand...PLOP. 32+64+96+96= how many feet below??? It will be a gorgeous float next summer.

We did see a couple of other sites...they left the liver???

What the heck kind of experiment are they doing??? Ya think they realize the ground is a bit dry for such a vessell??? ffs. lol.

We headed back to Missoula. The area is pretty yet scarred by the "healthy forest thinning". Looks horrible and the erosion is apparent.

Or, there is the patch cut. BOO!
So, we got back to Missoula and HAD to go to the REI outdoor sporting goods store (of course). Lots of good things.

Then we drove through the fog and some snow and some rain...but it was worth it!
We stopped to see Pretty Girl!

Teyla is almost 2. She loves to play with her toys. She loves grapes!

And we sure enjoyed watching and hanging out with her!

We stopped to get gas in Big Timber. It was difficult seeing how much the gas was...

The wind had made the sign topple. Yeah...I don't miss that wind!

We got home at about 8:30 last night. Good to be home, but really good to see our friends, family and the countryside. It brings sunshine to the soul, even in the foggy haze of Missoula!

Next up...getting ready for Thanksgiving!

As Thanksgiving approaches,

we all cringe because of the anniversary of the death date of our loved ones. This year, however, feels a bit different. Perhaps it is because it will be my first Thanksgiving without a living mother. But I sit here and reflect and think of how many memories of her I have and how thankful and grateful I am because I have those cherished memories, of her and my sister and nephew who are hopefully all planning their Thanksgiving menu together. And I am incredibly thankful for my family whom I hold dear to my heart. My relationship with each is so unique with the one common element of laughing at the ridiculous things we find funny. I am incredibly grateful for my loving children who had kept me uplifted in the hard times as well as my best friend...husband who is a solid rock. I am grateful for my friends that are here through thick and thin. I am thankful for naughty TT, George Dog and Gus who always seem to give me a reason to smile.

I love you all...and for YOU, I am thankful and grateful.

One of my favorite songs from the movie...

INTO THE WILD...

all the music is by

Eddie Vedder -

I wished you could hear the music too!

Long Nights Lyrics

Have no fear
For when I'm alone
I'll be better off than I was before

I've got this light
I'll be around to grow
Who I was before
I cannot recall

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I am falling safely to the ground
Ah...

I'll take this soul that's inside me now
Like a brand new friend
I'll forever know

I've got this light
And the will to show
I will always be better than before

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I am falling safely to the ground

We had a great hike today...

up on Glacier Lake trailhead. It was blustery at times, but when you wear layers, and hiking at 10,000 feet, you tend to stay warm!
The trail follows Rock Creek and if every there was a stream that earned its name, it's this one!
Scott's dad, Dick, came along with us and enjoyed the outing as much as we did!
Besides the gorgeous scenery across the canyon, there was beauty right next to us. There had been a big fire swept through years ago...there are many old dead trees...and a few new dead trees.
We stopped to take a few pics...(all these are from Scott's camera)

and of course, I saved the cutest for last!
