Something New, Something Different, Something Used, Something Old

Here is the set of salt and pepper shakers Cathy and Ed brought back from Australia. Michelle got kangaroos, Megs got koalas and I got the Sydney Opera House!
Different chair belonging to Scott's uncle. It is the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in.
While looking for a mother-of-the-bride dress, I found this beautiful thing. It isn't the right color, but I couldn't pass it up! I bought it for the spring concert. The skirt is almost to the floor and the hemline is like the sleeves.
Usually when it snows, it's melted and gone within a day or two. This year, however, the snow has been here for over 2 months and I love it. It's finally a real winter!

Fantabulous Friday

WOOHOO---

no camping in store...to cold, just have to do all those midterm grades, shope for the MOTHER OF THE BRIDE dress with Megs and probably get some new jeans.

All that work at the gym is paying off!

What are your weekend plans?

Today when I was at the gym,

I usually pay little attention to those around me, but today I noticed someone I felt bad for. There is this very, very thin woman that I have seen often, but today she was in a machine right next to me so I couldn't help it. She was there when I first walked in, I noticed because she was on the machine right next to the one I planned on working out on. I got changed, came out and started my machine at a pretty good clip, but she went twice as fast as what I was doing, and coughing in a towel very often.

I work out on the aerobic machines for 45 minutes then usually have 30 - 45 minutes on weights. So by the time I enter until the time I leave, it's about 2 hours. When I was leaving, I noticed she was there...STILL...working very hard and fast on the machine...and coughing in a towel.
She looked about 35, and her tiny clothes just hung on her tooo skinny, frail little body. It's not my business, but I just wanted to stop her machine and tell her GOOD ENOUGH for today...

Sounds Like A Great Day!

Your horoscope for February 13, 2010
A passionate letter or phone call from a romantic partner could have you longing for his company, ELLIE, and so you're likely to make a night of it this evening. You're both feeling happy, glowing in each other's company. One or both of you will have career successes to report; relations with coworkers and superiors alike should be cooperative and congenial today, and this works well for your future. Enjoy.

But first, I have festival then a birthday party to attend...

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Go to work, go to Oz (gym), go home and have dinner, get on Facebook, go to bed.

But last night my lady friends and I went out for dinner then to the movie. We say CRAZY HEART and it was very, very good. Jeff Bridges is an incredible actor, the story line was well written and although some of the twists were predictable, the the outcome was not.

It's worth going to see if you want to be entertained by a movie with a deeper meaning to life than just fluffl

LIVING

As time keeps on ticking, I can feel this or that not working quite as well as it used to...ya know; the hearing, the vision, the bowels, etc. And it's so much easier, these days, to pack on a few pounds here and there. So I've been thinking about how I want to feel in life and especially what control I have over the quality of my life now and eventually, in those last years.

At the beginning of last December, I decided to go to the doctor to get my blood levels checks and it was just as I was afraid of - high blood sugar, weight gain in addition to me not sleeping and a couple other issues. Type 2 diabetes is in my family and the doctor said I have to get things under control, or I'm well on my way of having it. She gave me a list of vitamins to take, sent me to a nutritionist, yodda yodda yodda.

Two months later, things are better. 5 days a week of 45 minute aerobic workout plus another 30 - 45 minutes on weights does wonders for the body; the pounds are starting to come off and the blood sugar is back to normal! I stopped the sweets, am eating more protein, fiber and less fat. Yet, I have to stand back and ask myself if I am really healthy. Physically? Emotionally? Psychologically? Sexually? Is it an ongoing process that we need to work on lifelong, or should we just be satisfied with the majority of aspects and accept the ongoing fact that we all grow old and the body doesn't function as well, and somethings not at all??? The questions may seem rhetorical, but they are worth pondering...seriously pondering...
