The days just come and go, don't they? The older I get, the faster this phenomenon occurs. 2 weeks until the final concert of the year, Michelle's taking her finals in college today, little Emma is 3 years old, Kaylee is a princess and only 5 more Tuesdays left at school! My point? Only 5 more Taco Tuesdays! :o)

Sleep-in Sunday
A peaceful day of house cleaning, yard work and loving our animals...does it get much better than this? Well, only if i hear from my kids!

Spring Fever!
Last Saturday was gorgeous so Scott, Gus Bob and I decided to do what we love best...play in the sun!
Scott started getting the raft ready for floating season,
while I prepared the soil!
The east side of the house only gets sun in the morning, so I decided to work on this flower garden I put in last year. I remembered some lovely smelling flowers my friend Joan used to have on the east/shady side of her house, so I followed her lead!
And another cool flower that loves the shade is called a Jack in the Pulpit.
Scott continued to work on the raft,
so I kept on digging and planting!
I love these baby pansies...or johnny jump-ups, but as you can see there are no blossoms because GEORGE DOG THE CAT ate them off before I got them planted!
Anyway...I noticed the lilacs are starting to leaf and bud out!
After the raft was inflated, then it had to get all scrubbed and a sun screen sprayed on it...
I continued planting...
It's rewarding to see the fruit of last years labor! My little daffodils and grape hyacinth are blooming in the back yard...
and my fav, my bleeding heart is up and growing!
My chives, oregano and green onions are also doing mighty fine!
It was a great day...then of course the next day we floated 13 miles, which was wonderful...except now I'm paying for not using my sun screen!
Today it is 39 degrees, still snowing those snow globe flakes.
I'm always grateful for the moisture. I covered my PULPIT with mulch so it won't freeze. Anyone else have spring fever? Have a FINE FRIDAY...

Whopper Wednesday!
Why is week draaaaaaaaaagging its feet? I suppose it just seems that way because it is so beautiful out. 77 yesterday and supposed to be 78 today. We have no plans for the weekend (supposed to rain!) but I'm looking forward to getting out in the yard. I have morning glories and clematis to pland and I want to go to the river and find more rocks for the borders. Life becomes stressful, tedious and overwhelming at times. I suppose that's why I get out there in the dirt...being mindful of just the dirt, the smells, the sounds of birds and the plants. It's a mental vacation we all need. So until then, enjoy your day...don't wish away the week, it is 5/7 of our life! That's what I keep telling myself...(although I'm looking forward to school being out).

Photo Phailure...
Hi Fine Folks!
I was going to post pics of Saturday's flowerbed excursions, Scott getting the raft inflated and ready for floating season and yesterday's FIRST FLOAT but for some reason I'm having PHOTO failure...so let me just tell you our weekend was wonderful! Flowers are planted and some are up and even some are blooming! The float was a 13 mile trek down the Yellowstone river. We saw blue heron, commerants, bald eagles, geese, duck and the PELICANS are back!!! Now back to work...

Springtime in Yellowstone
Here's the grand Entrance Gate to Yellowstone Park ouside of Gardner, MT. You NEVER know what you are going to experience when you drive through this gate!
You're pretty lucky to be able to see the wildlife like these spike elk.
Or stand and watch the beautiful Gardner River...
Get caught up in a traffic jam...(Hey Buddy! MOVE YOUR FAT A**!) Actually, the problem came from the first vehicle. Don't ever stop! Just keep driving slowly!
DEER!
This momma buffalo and her calf...
After looking closely...we saw that this calf was brand new. He got up for his first time and wobbled and hobbled and finally found his momma's milk.
That was my favorite animal site. We also saw a pregnant wolf, geese, 2 coyotes, antelope, hawks, ravens, geese and turkeys and big horn mountain sheep...and look at the "SPRING" look in the upper Lamar Valley!
On our way back home, we took the "Old Yellowstone Trail" because we wanted to see the Yankee Jim rapid that we like to float over and see what else there is in store!
Here's the rapid...and it makes me scream when we float over it! lol
And the rest of the float is calm and gorgeous!
When we stopped to take a few pics of the water, we found other things that caught our eye...
Nothing like a man and his dog!
We took a side trail called the Yankee Jim trail that lead to man a gold mine.
On this trail, were VERY old signs for those just coming out in the late 1800s...enticing new immigrants to spend their money on souveniers!
We also came across this old cabin. At first I thought it was living quarters, since it was obvious that squatters had lived here...
But there were NO windows at all, half of it was underground...so we figured it was used for dynamite storage or some sort of storage for the miners.
Further down the road was this DARLING house.
Gus stayed alert most of the trip because everytime we would see buffalo, elk, deer or some other wildlife, he saw them too and REALLY wanted to get out and herd them! By the time we got home, he was ready to hit the hay.
Sunday was spent digging in the flower beds and being outside on the gorgeous 67 degree day. Today is a teacher's workday...music teachers get to go watch the district festival. Good thing because my legs are sunburnt and sore!
