well, i lied...

i can do blog posts, probably not pics until i get home.

now we are in arizona, supposed to be 106 this weekend, it was snowing yesterday in ennis. who 'da thunk?

Ist day of summer vacation

and Michelle and I get to go see our family for 2 weeks! I won't be making more blogs, but I will still be able to comment.

Last day

with students at Ennis School District. There have been flowers and tears and a yummy bouquet of little candy bars. Lots of hugs, even from kids that i didn't think liked me! I'll have some pics on here tonight.

I had the hardest time picking out what I would wear on my last day of school.

A few weeks ago, Scott and I decided to take a drive to Big Sky. It's a little village on the other side of the mountains we live by. Big Sky is not considered a town, but has lots of homes, businesses and most of all...lots of money. Most people live there a week or so out of the year for their winter skiing vacation. It feels like a miniature Jackson Hole. Tucked here and there on Lone Mountain are mansions in which owners can ski down the mountain literally right out of their back yard, and the subdivision called the Yellostone Club. (Criteria for said club membership is to prove at least a million dollars in your bank account.) Anyway, Ellen lives in a little condo up there and her significant other, Derek, works for a building company. On the way, we passed by Hebgen Lake and it's herd of buffalo.
Shortly after arriving at their place, we decided to take a hike to Oozel Falls. (oozels are those little birds that bob up and down on rocks in or near the water and are tootems!) So, here we are, on the hike.
We've been friends for 21 years. Few things never change: my hair is natural, her waist is skinny!

There is slate rock near and around the water so we were able to get close. Her Derek and my Scott talking about who knows what, lol.

It was a nice day...a great hike and good visits. Good friends are far and few between and incredibly priceless!

Today is graduation

and time for those seniors to move on in this world. The band will play before the ceremony, pomp and circumstance during the ceremony and the choir is singing a song after the guest speaker. It is the final performance under the direction of Ms. Creek. 5 more days of school to endure we are then headed south to stay with Velvet for 3 weeks...

Some pics of the flowers...

The wishing sell looks so pretty with those yellow flowers in them, and i have no idea what those are alled. The johnny jump-ups seeded themselves back and they are so dang toot doot! They are to mom from RJ!
And I simply adore and love the irises.

In the midst of all the greens from the irises are other perenials Pennie and I planted. Ican't wait for them to bloom to see all the other colors!
In the back, just to the right of the bench is the vining honey suckle and it is gorgeous. It will really bloom out and attract the bees, butterflies and humming birds! We still need some shots of the flowers in front of the house and around the hummingbird feeder! (hint hint, pen!) Scott didn't get as many as I thought!

No pics yet, but we just planted a million bajillion different flowers in the flower bed for momma's Mother's Day present. When she gets home from the hospital, she will LOVE all the petunias, johhny jump ups, asters, cone flowers, bee balm, etc etc etc that we planted. Oh, and she'll love the vining honeysuckle that sits in a pot, vining up the bamboo by the bench or all the hanging basket of flowers or the asters or the lovely pot of yellow something or others sitting in the wishing well. Can't wait to see them all in the morning! The iris' already are blooming and so is the bleeding heart!

I know, pictures, pictures pictures!....scott has his camera, hopefully we'll get some soon.

Happy Mothers Day, all you mothers! It was originally started by the Mothers of WWII in peaceful hopes of bringing their sons home. There is still hope...I hope.

The Grand Finale!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is it. Ms. Creek's last concert was last night. She was sooo happy to walk into the gym and see her husband (who was supposed to be in Billings) sitting by her daughter! She smiled.

And there was a very nice crowd turnout, as well.

First they heard the choir sing. Some were absent from being sick. Small group, big voiced. They had fun and did great!


Then in came the big sounds of this large 5th grade class. Their songs, Dust in the Wind, Proud Mary and Give Me Wings were real crowd pleasers!


They played Lost Kingdom, Flintstones and Battle Creek March.

And were just as cute as they could be!

The 6th grade is a class of only 19 and 4 of them were sick :o( However, they played very well...

Alpha Squadron, Aztec dance and their favorite....Stray Cat Strut!

The 7-8th grade band let their lovely tones ring out! They played Irish March, Legend of the Eagle Caves and
their favorite...Jump Street Boogie. Had to throw in a little jazz!
And when it was all over, I was showered with hugs...

and high schoolers came because they knew it was my last concert, so I received many hugs from them...

and a GIANT group hug!

Ennis is a small town of 650 people, but it will always hold a very large part of my heart.

Tonight

is my last concert at Ennis, grades 5-8 band and choir.

State Music Festival

I couldn't be any more prouder of these students. The following are photos that received a SUPERIOR rating at district music festival.
This is Duel. He played a solo on his french horn entitled "Melodie Importune" and i accompanied him on piano. He played his solo at state festival and did a fine job.
This is the brass ensemble that played a cool piece entitled "Sourwood Mountain". It's an old American folk tune, this particular arrangement varied the melody and rhythm in several sections. They played today at State festival, as well.


We won't know the results from the judges for a couple days. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter what the state judges gave them, they worked hard, played their hearts out and enjoyed themselves!

We got to the motel in Billings last night, had a yummy dinner at Applebees, went shopping at the mall (yes, i got a couple of cool tops), headed back to the motel for the pool side fun, to bed, then played at 8 this morning. 3 of these students were immediately bussed to the metra center for their track and field competition, one went to the baseball field for his game, and to rode home on the bus. I made them play TROUBLE with me. I won.

Actually, when you look at what they accomplished, we all won.
