Today, I'm a princess....

HASH(0x8e0abb8)
You're AURORA from SLEEPING BEAUTY!
A girlie girl who loves to look pretty, you're a
little bad at making your mind up. You love to
sleep in for hours - sometimes a hundred years!
- and when you're not sleeping, you have a big
imagination and daydream a lot. You may not be
that intelligent and often wait for people to
do things for you, but others love you for your
laidback, dreamy ways and deep relationship
with animals and nature. You're a bit of a home
girl, but you like to be outside and love to
dance like the trees you love. You think all
princesses should be beautiful and strive to be
so. With your sweetness and softness, Prince
Phillip would fall in love with you at once...
But if I know you, I know what you'll do, you'll
love me at once, the way you did once upon a
dream...

despair
Eyes of Despair - Your soul posesses Eyes of
Despair. Life is not what it used to be for
you and you know it. Somewhere along the line
things took a turn for the worst. Whether you
made this happen, or others are responsible for
this occurance is known only unto you. You
have not given up on life just yet, but that
light within your soul is slowly fading away.
You hold to that hope as best you can but fear
that if something good does not happen soon,
you will lose it forever. You see the world in
a veil of grey. You never know what is right
and what is wrong, the two have blurred your
vision completely. Chances are, you have very
few friends at the moment, and if you do, you
push them as far away from you as you can. You
are fighting yourself and you don't know how to
stop. Someday you will find the answers that
you seek, but until then, it seems life will
only continue to hurt.

The Justice Card
You are the Justice card. Justice preserves the
harmony of the world. Working with opposite
forces, Justice does not seek to criticize or
condemn but rather to accept. The idea behind
the card justice is that opposite forces are
complementary; you could not have good without
evil or light without darkness. Justice's
position is to make sure that if a thing is out
of balance, the weight of its energy is
realigned with its opposite force. This card is
also a card of humour, for it is in pointing
out contrary positions that humour is often
found. The attitude that is found in the
humourous person, being able to shift
perspective and flow with an instinct, is
important in the maintenance of good balance.

It's 11:48 pm and we just got back from the bar.

"Thank you so much for helping!"

"No problem, anytime, see you at your concert on Monday. What time is set up?"

"In the morning, but wait Paul. You always are here for me. You always take off work, set up and tear down sound for every concert. I want you to know I appreciate it."

"Hey, my kids are in the concert, I would'a shown up anyway, no big deal."

"No, really, Paul. I'm serious. What can I do for you?"

"I know what you can do for me, Ellie. My band is playing Friday night at the Claim Jumper. Come down and listen to a couple of sets. Give me your professional opinion."

Ick. Ick-ick-ick. I totally detest bars. I have only gone to the bar in Ennis during the Jazz Festival last year and that's because there were was a killer string bass player I wanted to listen to. Other than that, I hate them. No, not because I don't drink, because I like a good non-alcohol beer sometimes. I like the loud rock and roll that this band plays. I just absolutely detest the cigarette smoke.

"Sure, Paul. I'll come listen for a while."

Half exhausted from last night's gala concert, teaching all day and getting ready for Monday's concert, taking the choir caroling for the kick off of the Winter Stroll, I came home and put on my sweats, tied my hair up in a dump dolly doo and plopped down. MMmm. Love my new recliner. Then I remembered, my promise. Up I went, put on some black jeans, kept on my sweater and we headed out.

Have you ever lived in a small town? I mean less than a thousand people? One small grocery store. The only fast food is Subway. Everyone knows everyone. You walk into the store and know people, what kind of students their children are, their social friends, their work habits, their reputation, EVERYTHING.
It is a pain in the ass, but also a security in its own way. I walked into the bar tonight and I didn't know ONE person. There were probably thirty or so in there. Not ONE face was familiar except the drummer, Paul and the guitarist, Mark. Wow. So we sat in the only seats available, but the view of the band was block. A familiar face walked by...Erin's stepmom. We exchanged our small talk and I sat back down at my booth that blocked our view. No conversation with the husband, only the music. We could only listen, watch the dancers and catch a glimpse of Mark's fingers on the fret board every once in a while.

So I sat and drank a NASTY fake beer. A few girls were out dancing. It's simply amazing how some people can dance consistently to the same beat, but it is different than the beat of the music. The moves. Ohh, the moves. A woman with dark hair walked up in front of Mark and sort of danced, I don't know what you would call it, actually. Then another wiggled and I mean WIGGLED her way across the dance floor to some guy....he wasn't too interested in her. Turned down her offer for a dance. Then she meandered over to another. He danced out on the floor, but just sort of stood there and watched the band while she tried to get his attention anyway possible. Nope, not interested. After two or three more of the same, she finally found "dave" that would go out there and match her moves, sit by her, buy her drinks and....I suppose you know the rest.

Ick. Ick. Ick. The smoke started getting my eyes. I was concentrating on Mark's fingers and out of nowhere appears a set of petite hips moving around right in front of my face. I looked up at her eyes, she looked at me, I moved my head and continued watching Mark play a killer solo. Soon, the hips moved out of my way. Not long after, the strange lady dancer was up in front of Mark again. Paul told me later that it was his girlfriend. The petite hips belonged to the owner. She likes women. Small town.

Finally, 2 barstools opened up, so husband and I moved up closer. At least I could see them. I already had my critical ear going, I already knew what they were good at and what they were missing. What I didn't know was what their stage presence looked like, if there was any real musicality going on between the three players called Three Wheel Drive. So, we sat up high, watched, watched the dancers, mostly women, and soon I felt a warm arm around my waste. It was Jackie. Ahhh, a face I knew. Before we could chat, husband informed me that he was sitting next to his closest co-worker's girlfriend, I guess Dell had kicked her out tonight. Small town.

By this time, husband was ready to go. He's NOT a social person and he HATES the style of music they were playing. But it didn't matter. I wasn't there for him, I was there for Paul, so I sat and visited with Jackie. She is one of those kind of people that are so calm, and gentle, and sweet and funny. I love her, I love her kids, and I was REALLY glad to see her at this hole!..I was just ready to order another gross fakey and husband stood up to go. Hmmm.

Well, okay. Hugs to Jackie and I worked my way through the ten feet of drunks to get to the door. Four minutes later I was walking into my house. I grabbed my puter,

Ya know, I used to go to the bar about every friday or saturday to dance. if i couldn't find any one I knew, my girlfriends and I would get up and dance. I loved it so much. I still love to dance. My husband is a poopy head when it comes to dancing, chatting, socializing, whereas I'm ready to rock and roll. Paul asked my opinion and I told him they are missing vocal harmony and fill in chords either by keyboard or guitar. He asked me to join. I told him I'd think about it. Small world.

September 12th

is the day the first letter went out to all the directors. I wanted my students and others from surrounding schools to get together (top, chosen students) to rehearse and have a concert. My admin. thought we could easily host such an event. After getting all the responses back (8 schools), names, music passed out, hours of rehearsals and all the damn details in the world taken care of......today is the day. 140 students will be participating in our Honors Music Day. The 2 clinicians are fine veterans in music education. They actually came a day early to work with my students. I just need to go in when basketball practice is done this morning (7 am) and finish the set-up. Got the lunches taken care of, got the dinner taken care of, ordered corsages, have someone assigned to maintaining the director's lounge, i will be teaching one class in the midst of it all. It will be a lot of good work, but the kids will learn and grow from it. It's worth it! I'll post some pics tomorrow or this weekend.
