Welcome to our home!

HI! I'm the Ice Cube Snow Man. I moved in with Scott and Ellie last year around Christmas time...Gramma Lil gave me to them. I stayed in the box until TODAY when Scott Scroogeman finally put me together. Am I cute or what?

Thanks for that intro, cube head! Here are some decorations I put up this weekend! I like candy canes and snow men. Those of you that know me will recognize some of the things on this shelf...homemade snowman jars, etc. The red tree is a candle Scott's gramma had for many many years and now we have it. I think Carol made the snowman and the knit candles. Jo, do you recognize the picture? lmao

I love the gingerbread house village things. I started this a few years ago, but can't find anything to add to it...

This is only the second time I've put the village out.

This is the first time I've put up a tree in 6 years. I had a beautiful 6 foot tree, but the cats climbed it and batted away all the ornaments. They haven't even paid any attention to it this time around. It's only 4 feet but filled with our special little ornaments. Megs and I are going to finish decorating it tomorrow or the next day...still looking for a special star!




I originally put this next picture in to show how spoiled everyone is by these packages and I haven't even really gotten started yet. However, looking at the picture it triggered something...I remember when the kids were little, I always wanted a nice, plush tree skirt but no way in hell was it affordable. Finally, I made one of green plaid...I quilted it then stitched on gingerbread men all the way around it...with our names on them. Then I made matching stockings. They were really cute, but lost in the divorce. Yesterday, I looked at the cheap ones, the only ones that were formerly affordable...then grabbed this cutie and put it in the basket.
Changing gears...
These stockings are ones Carol made when Scott was growing up. You'll see his ski boot, Dick's hiking boot, Carol's yellow slipper and Kim's tennis shoe and sports sock. Is that cute, or what? Homemade is the best!

Here's a not-so-good picture of the front window. I forgot to get more tacks, so the lights aren't up around it yet...tomorrow, perhaps!

This cute little ho ho ho hangs on the door in my kitchen. Carol gave it to me a few years ago.

This is a towel hanger that goes with a towel (still have) that Jo gave me while I was in Belle Fourche. The magnet is long gone, but I stick it up on the fridge for a Christmas decoration!

I haven't decorated like this since...well, I sure can't remember when. I'm not sure why I'm doing so. It feels like I"m just holding momma close in getting the spirit around here. It is comforting to get creative and decorate and make the house feel spirited. Hmm. Have to think on that, I guess. Oh yes, one more picture...
