Spring Break...Second Leg

We met up with my sister, Rubye Jean, her granddaughter Alexa Rubye (RUE) and my Uncle Bill. So...
Let me introduce to you my Great niece, Rue! She's not only great, she's AWESOME! I had so much fun with her because she has the sweetest spirit! Rue is very smart, has a great sense of humor and reminds me of her mother so much!

Here she is with Uncle Bill on "Buddy". He gave her a few rides and it was fun watching her enjoy herself so much!
Rue liked being in our camper and she really liked the bed! Here she is giving Gus some loves. They both are obviously enjoying it!
The next morning, Rue enjoyed her little white powder donuts and if you look real close, you can see her WHITE "lipstick" from them! lol
Here we are with my sister Rubye. I just LOVE this picture! It was so good to see Rubye Jean!
We sat by the campfire and sang our hearts out. Another camper brought his guitar and yet another brought her voice and it was wonderful. UB is so dang cute and such a great player! I'm bummed we didn't get pics by the camp fire because Rubye Jean sang her heart out. We had 3 part harmony on every song. It fed my soul.
My family is so important. I love you and thanks for coming to see us!

Spring Break...First Leg

Here's what it looked like as we headed south for our Spring Break...brrr. Friday, we left for a week in the desert.
Our first destination was to stay the night in Casper and see my sweet Aunt Goldie! She's 86 and going strong. My mom and her were VERY close growing up and it simply warms my heart to be around her. She used to be a red head, like me! We went out to Red Lobster (her fav. spot!) and then she fixed us a fine breakfast Saturday morning. Thank you, sweetie! Love you lots!
We drove for about 8 hours on Saturday, stopped to see Scott's family in Grand Junction then kept on going. By the time we finally made up camp (around midnight) Gus was a bit bored.

The next day, Sunday, (our 8th anniversary!) we were in gorgeous country. Here is the beginning of Monument Valley in Utah.

The weather was a balmy 60 as we kept driving to meet up with Uncle Bill, my sister Rubye Jean and her granddaughter, Rue. (Alexa Rubye) The country was gorgeous red rock and sand with lots of junipers.
Here is our first destination...the Colorado River at Lees Ferry. Historically it's the spot where Lee ferried many settlers across the river. Today it is the spot to launch rafts for float trips through the Grand Canyon (with over 100 rapids to master). The brownish water is from the sediment of the Paria river that meets the Colorado here. If you look closely under the red cliffs, you will see the beautiful green Colorado river. This is the spot the waters wed.
We had a most wonderful time here, which I'll blog more about tomorrow. But here's a little clip of my darling great niece in the water...

Spring Break
