IIIIIIIIII love a parade! (pics taken by husband, as i was a little busy marching!)

Let's get started with the leaders.........strike up the band!
Next to follow, were all the elementary grades, walking. The theme of the Parade was "TV SHOWS". Some followed it, some didn't. Some were just too dang cute to be true!
Star Wars...
Cuties....
2nd Grade saluting the flag while we stopped and played the Star Spangled Banner...
Playin' the blues...

Some are very spirited!(All these kids are in my 5th and 6th grade band!)
My favorite float (made by the Sophomores)
The Homecoming King and Queen candidates....starting with the Booster Club Babes............

Chuck and Nicole...

Lucas and Amanda......Ben, Kate, Ashley, Jackson....
(Jackson and Amanda were crowned King and Queen!)

and finally........our awesome new MUSTANG BUS!

There's just some things about small towns that nothing can replace...our parade is just one of them!

Weekend Projects

We decided to finish our hearth this weekend...and I had a little flower bed work to do...
We started on the hearth. We have a cute little Vermont Castings wood stove. We went to Home Depot to get some earth-tone slate.

Husband did most of it....starting with the mud part.
and the backer board...
and making sure things are working out okay....
and on and on....
husband really does detest getting all muddy, etc. He's a finish carpenter, but I thought he was doing a great job!
So since there wasn't much to do...Cathy and I went out and planted daffodils, crosus', grape hyacinth and tulips. You can see the rocks we've carried and made the borders with. In the center will be nice river rock to go around that merry-go-round my sisters used at their little country school almost 50 years ago.

So we turned over all the dirt and added Peat Moss and planted and planted while Scott worked away inside. We were finished and came inside to check...and almost done...
and then finally....the final product!
Do you love it? Compare again...

Taahhh Daaahhh! Husband does awesome work....
Hope your weekend was as productive as mine!
